Salinas de Cádiz, with its Dama Blanca brand, is a family project born from the inspiration of two people in love with the sea, in a privileged setting with more than 3,000 years of history in artisanal salt cultivation. We respect, recover, and preserve the salt-making traditions and its ecosystem. Our Virgin Sea Salt, Flor de Sel, and Flor de Sel Flakes are unique, limited-production, and hand-harvested in the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park. It is certified organic by the EU.
HISTORY
Salinas de Cádiz is located within the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park. This area of more than 10,000 hectares, hosted in its heyday more than 150 artisanal sea salts. Their number today has declined to five, mainly due to the appearance of industrial refrigeration systems in the middle of the 19th century.
BIODIVERSITY
Artisanal sea salts are one of the few production processes where the intervention of man increases biodiversity. Flora and Fauna are the protagonists of this environment, since there are many birds that choose this space to rest, nest and breed.
ELABORATION
The water arrives from the Atlantic Ocean to the estuary where it will increase its salinity and temperature. The water follows its course through channels of great length and leads it to the salt crystallization zone, where by the action of the sun and the wind our virgin sea salt, flower of salt and flaked flowers of salt are born.
